TDT Technology to show five machines on largest-ever stand at MACH 2016
TDT Technology, the official UK & Ireland importer, sales distributor and service agent for numerous leading machine tool manufacturers, will be taking five CNC machines to this year’s MACH exhibition (Birmingham NEC, 11-15 April). Located in Hall 5 on Stand 5440, which at 200m² is the company’s largest ever stand at the show, TDT will exhibit: a Fidia HS664 high-speed, high-performance milling system; an IMT VL50 vertical lathe; a Kafo CV-11A vertical machining centre; a Force One FCL20TS horizontal lathe with sub-spindle; and an OMG SNC650 lathe with both teach-in and CNC capabilities.
The Italian-built Fidia HS664 is a milling system offering X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 600, 560 and 400mm respectively, with four- and five-axis versions also available (a five-axis version will be on the stand). The machine features high acceleration and axis feeds (30m/min), along with 24,000 rpm maximum spindle speed (option up to 36,000 rpm), sophisticated Fidia C1 NC algorithms and a rigid cast iron bed that aids the machining of steels up to 60 HRc. Typical applications include forging dies, moulds, aerospace parts and copper and graphite electrodes. The Fidia HS664 at MACH will be performing the high-speed, five-axis machining of a Fiat 500 model car in order to demonstrate the super-fine finish that can be achieved.
From IMT, the company will present the VL50, the largest vertical lathe in the company’s series, which offers a maximum turning diameter of 1150mm, a maximum swing diameter of 1200mm, X-axis travel of 750mm, Z-axis travel of 730mm and 18/min rapid feed rates. Five sizes are available in the Italian-built IMT VL range, with right-handed models offered as standard and left-handed versions on request. This allows users to set-up a double-chuck system based on two machines in mirror configuration. A C-axis can also be specified on VL series machines.
A further Italian principal to be represented on the TDT stand will be OMG. The OMG SNC650 is one of eight models in this range of universal manual/self-teach/CNC lathes. Build quality highlights include a monolithic cast iron structure, external gearbox and a third guide to support the saddle. The SNC650 offers a centre height of 650mm, a swing over bed of 1420mm, a swing over saddle of 1040mm, a bed width of 770mm and a distance of between centres of 1.5 to 16.0m depending on requirements.
TDT will also shine the spotlight on the Kafo CV-11A high efficiency vertical machining centre, which offers 45mm roller type linear guideways, a ballscrew coolant system, direct servomotor drives, a Z-axis without counterweights and X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 1100, 600 and 600mm respectively. Rapid traverse rates on this high quality Taiwanese-built machine are 48m/min (10m/min cutting rate), while spindle speed is 12,000/15,000 rpm. The maximum workpiece weight that can be accommodated is 800kg.
For manufacturers on a budget, visitors to the show will be able to see the cost-effective Force One FCL20TS horizontal lathe with sub-spindle, which provides a maximum swing diameter of 630mm, a maximum turning diameter of 490mm and a working length of 500mm. This 52mm (main spindle)/45mm (sub-spindle) capacity machine also offers a B-axis.
A further feature of the TDT stand at MACH will be an impressive 3m video wall dedicated to machines manufactured by Pama of Italy, which include boring and milling centres, horizontal machining centres, floor-type boring and milling machines, and gantry-type vertical machining centres. A further screen will be showcasing products from other manufacturers represented by TDT. All of the company’s technical partners are carefully selected from around the world, and produce some of the most technologically advanced products and CNC systems available.
Other attractions of the TDT stand will include various machine guarding products and a display of driven tool-holders from Algra. Furthermore, a UCAM rotary table will be fitted to the Kafo CV11-A vertical machining centre.
