James S Tunstall and Simon Hewson following the closure of Duplomatic UK Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Duplomatic Spa in Italy , incorporated TDT in 1993. TDT were granted the agency for Duplomatic Automation products covering both Sales & Service in the UK & Eire in 1993 and have held the agency ever since. During the boom period in UK machine tool manufacturing in 1996 TDT started adding value to the Duplomatic products by supplying turnkey packages of indexing turret, VDI tooling disc, electrical harness and associated tooling to the machine tool manufacturers in the UK .

As the UK market changed the Directors of TDT looked for other product lines to sell in the UK and signed an agency agreement with Repar2 Machine Guards in Italy in 1998. This part of the business grew very quickly and has know been formed into a separate division known as TDT Machine Guarding Ltd, web link below.
